While a full-scale siege of Venice would have been unthinkable in 1795, some siege weapons still have their place. The massive Scorpio crossbow is one such device, repurposed and employed by the forces of the Vatican.

As large as a man, only the strongest warriors can wield a Scorpio, each accompanied by an Altar Boy to assist with aiming and carrying the heavy bolts. Designed to punch through support beams and stone walls, these devastating projectiles are just as effective at blasting enemies from the rooftops of Venice’s tightly packed streets.

This set contains a Scorpio Marksman and his loyal assistant. From the heavy plate armour and classic crusader-style helmet of the marksman to the flowing robes of the Altar Boy, this pair offers a highly detailed and rewarding painting project.

On the tabletop, such an enormous crossbow is incredibly useful in Carnevale. The Vatican may not be the fastest faction, but when you can bring a scorpio to battle, speed becomes less important. Long-range sniping combined with the sheer force of the bolts — capable of knocking enemies backwards — makes the Scorpio Marksman an excellent choice for controlling the flow of battle.
