Ho‑Ni III tank destroyer — Chi‑Ha chassis with an enclosed superstructure and powerful forward gun. Ideal for ambush and shoot‑and‑withdraw tactics in Bolt Action.
The Ho‑Ni series mounted powerful guns on a Chi‑Ha chassis to give the Imperial Japanese Army mobile anti‑tank firepower. The original Ho‑Ni had an open‑topped fighting compartment that left the crew exposed; the Ho‑Ni III corrected that weakness with a fully enclosed superstructure for improved protection. Most Ho‑Ni IIIs were kept on the Japanese home islands to oppose the expected Allied invasion late in World War II.
In tabletop wargaming (Bolt Action and similar systems), the Ho‑Ni III is a durable, forward‑firing tank destroyer ideal for ambush tactics: pop up from cover, fire with heavy effect, and fall back to a new firing position. Its combination of frontal armour, a potent 75mm main gun (or equivalent in game terms), and enclosed fighting compartment make it a dependable anti‑armour platform.
