One of the earliest and most successful applications of Biomancy to the art of war, the Pteraphon was originally developed by the Spires as a dragon-slaying weapon. Their efforts proved futile when the Elder Dragons awoke and rendered such ambitions meaningless, but the Spire Directorate is never one to waste resources.

Refining the design, the Directorate repurposed the construct into a symbiotic “suit.” By removing most of its nervous system and adapting it for a pilot, the Pteraphon grants its wearer the power of flight along with heightened senses. Unfortunately, the alien musculature and sensory organs impose a heavy neural burden. Pilots must rely on dangerous levels of synaptic enhancers, leaving many of them addicted and broken. Even so, countless volunteers accept the risk for the glory of flight and the godlike view from above.

Though its original bulk and destructive power were reduced, the Pteraphon remains a terrifying weapon of war. Designed to combat dragons, it still possesses formidable strength and battlefield presence against mortal enemies.

On the battlefield, the Pteraphon acts as an aerial observer and ranged support unit, dramatically improving the Spires commander’s awareness. From striking vulnerable targets far behind enemy lines to marking enemy regiments and exposing their positions, the Pteraphon truly becomes your eye in the sky.
